Our Ethos

Combining extensive event experience and sustainability expertise, we are a straight-talking, driven duo.

Our company ethos is to give our clients the personalised service they need, help build tools and techniques that enable teams to become self sufficient, and drive lasting change within the industry. We strive to bring clarity to sustainability ambitions, grounded in science, and empower organisations to turn these intentions into actions to start seeing quantifiable results that are good for the planet, people and ultimately business too.

Ben Quarell

An accomplished sustainability consultant, with a personal mission to drive and influence a better world for his daughter.

As co-founder of isla, the UK’s events industry sustainability body, he rooted the organisation in science-based initiatives and led the creation of the TRACE platform, a carbon footprint tool for events. With a 20 year events background across festivals, corporate and experiential for global clients such as Adidas, Oakley and The Economist, his expertise encompasses practical event production alongside a deep understanding of carbon and Net-Zero and a passion for keeping communication simple. His talent for explaining complicated technical production in layman’s terms translates through to making event sustainability simpler and easy to follow for everyone. His hobbies include cold water swimming, trying to be a fun Dad and being a data nerd.

Poppy Stephenson

A seasoned sustainability leader with a proven track record in event operations.

She rose to the top of the UK’s festival management world managing the control centre at Glastonbury, alongside delivering a range of corporate and experiential events for global brand clients, and helping to deliver sustainable events initiatives for the UK’s Green Capital winning bid. Her background as an award winning young CEO, charity trustee and University Lecturer, has helped her to become an expert strategist, facilitator and workshop leader. Her superpower is the ability to map out complicated operational processes and turn them into simple easy to follow steps that get buy-in across the board. As Learning Lead at isla Poppy was instrumental in developing strategy for training, TRACE, Proseed and created the isla Progression Pathway, designed to help the whole industry move towards net-zero. Her biggest weaknesses are chocolate brownies and videos of dogs.
